The current literacy rate of Pakistan is 62.3 which mean that an estimated population of 60 million is illiterate in the country. Pakistan has the world’s second-highest number of out-of-school children (OOSC) with an estimated 25.3 million children between the ages 5 and 16 who are not in school, 79% of whom have never been to school and 21% drop out at various stages. The highest proportion of children who have never been to school belong to age 5-9 years, threatening Pakistan’s future literacy rates.
